La mammarazza

Five things I can't do without ...

... in my kitchen. In order of need, but all pretty major:
1. Electric kettle. Quite hard to persuade French relatives/friends just how indispensible this is in a kitchen.
2. Silicon spatula. No other material will do, never mind Granny's lovely, worn wooden ones.....
3. Cast-iron cooking pot (perfectly ergonomic shape, rounded bottom for easy gathering-up with said spatula).
4. Steak knife. It cuts everything better than any of my proper 'chef' knives and its tip will check the cookedness of potatoes etc. It cost less than 20 centimes d' euro in a car boot sale. I have another 20 of these, so I'm never without a clean one to work with.
5. Scissors. Rivals to the steak knife. I prepare all kinds of foods with scissors.
