Tenby Lifeboat Station

Today's the day ....................... for a grand design

Do you ever watch the television series called Grand Designs when presenter Kevin McCloud follows ambitious self-building projects taken on by some of Britain's intrepid/completely crazy homeowners? Well this is one of them.

It started life in 1895 as the third lifeboat station to be built in Tenby. It cost £600 and was built by William Davies to the designs of W T Douglas, architect and engineer to the RNLI. It continued as a lifeboat station until 2004 when the current station was built just a bit further along the cliff.

This one has been turned into the most fantastic house by the present owners who bought it from Tenby Town Council - and somehow managed to get planning permission to do all that they had to do. They keep their boat on the slipway - an absolute gem of a house ......................
