Dunham Massey ... whatever!
Oh this has been a really difficult choice today ....(Katy said I'd say that!).
I grew up close to Dunham Massey but, at that time, the last Lord Stamford was still in residence. Locals were allowed into the deer park, even then. It was a regular destination with visitors ... to walk off Ma's wonderful lunches.
So, our Bank Holiday visit was fascinating. I have lots of options ... fabulous plasterwork, portraits and porelain ... kitchen and dairy details ... masses of snaps of roses and even a woman mesmerised by the bees on the saxifrage (I think it was) ... she had a proper camera and everything!
But, in the end it was these three youngsters who preferred virtual culture to all that surrounding them. At their age I'm not sure anyone can blame them for preferring the current/future culture to that of the past.
Ho hum ... back to work - in the heritage industry - tomorrow ... (how did you guess?).
