Dog Days Of Summer
A last hurrah of Summer 2013!
We have picked a good week to come to north Norfolk! The weather has been fine and sunny all day. It's been another lazy day today. I've long since given up trying to go anywhere on the bank holiday weekends. Everywhere is mobbed!
Instead I have finally brought this blip feed bang up to date and had a few beers during its production. Please feel free to flip back through the last week, there is a spotted flycatcher picture I am rather proud of.
Alex, my niece, had this dog balloon made for her by the children's entertainer, and this inspired the title of this blip.
I've just Wikipedia'd Dog Days and it appears the real dog days of summer ended at the weekend. It is the period grin the 24th July to the 24th August which coincides with the ending of summer and brightest period of the Dog Star Sirius.
The Dog Days were considered an evil time "the sea boiled, the wine turned sour, dogs grew mad, and all other creatures turned languid; causing man, among other diseases, burning fevers, hysterics and phrensies, and large traffic jams on the M25" (Calvis Calendria - Brady - 1813.
Now it all makes sense!!
