Asheville, North Carolina

This is part of the view from our vacation rental. We drove through the smoke of forest fires from South Florida through the middle of Georgia, now we are here, and there is a smog alert in several states. Asheville does not produce so much pollution, but it comes from those wonderful coal energy plants that GW seems to love so dearly, which are located in other states that do not have the same guidelines that NC has. Sigh... I am hoping for a bit of rain so we can perhaps see the mountains clearly.

People here are so friendly and relaxed compared to home. I really love it here. And seeing our daughter is a real blessing. I will say though that road travel is harder as each year progresses.
