Kuranda

We headed out to the Scenic Railway of Cairns today for a trip up to Kuranda on one of the world's oldest railways. The train reminded me of the Hogwarts Express which was very exciting. It took two hours to get to the end of the railway and on the way we saw some beautiful scenery, a waterfall, houses built into some pretty steep mountainsides, and we learned about what it took to build the railway in the 1800s and how many people died trying to build it.

Kuranda is the town at the end of the rail. We went to the koala sanctuary there and got to cuddle (hold) 4-year old koala, Fred!! That was very exciting. Jenn and I also went into the Bird Sanctuary and got to see all kinds of beautiful birds free-flying around their space which was also really awesome. We wandered around Kuranda afterwards eating lunch and doing some shopping and then headed home on the cableway which took us over the trees back down the mountains on a lift/gondola ride with a couple of stops in the rainforest or with lookouts on the way.

We started a selfie contest to see who wins ultimate selfie. That should be quite interesting once all of the photos are in one place.

Grabbed dinner and a beer afterwards in Cairns City where apparently everyone but the weirdos is in bed by 7.

will upload a blip for yesterday after I have my underwater camera developed
