Fishing Village

The East Nuke of Fife has always been a favourite spot of mine, and it was a pleasure to take our Finnish friends there, though we seemed to pick the foggiest day of the year so far, with only a few glimpses of sun. This is The Gyles at Pittenweem.

Our visit to the harbour was enlivened by a long conversation with the manager of the local Fishermans' Mutual. We know it is true that Scotland is indeed a small country, but it was no small surprise that he knew another friend of ours. If that wasn't enough, when visiting the National Museum in Edinburgh the next day, the display on the fishing industry featured the life story of the man we met in Pittenweem.

A very nice day out ended with an excellent supper in the Wee Restaurant in North Queensferry, after which we enjoyed a misty view of part of the Forth Bridge.
