beginnings and endings

It was the official start of teh new college year today. That meant new batches of students for us all. I met about 50 new students plus a refreshed and enthusiastic second year group. Early indications are that it will be a good year.

After that I headed into town to look for a blip, forgetting that tday was really the last day of the Fringe. The bulk of the shows finished yesterday with a few left over hoping for one last sell out or big audience.

The High street is always a bit surreal at this point small crowds of tourists milling about hoping that someone will show up to entertain them for free, and a last few performers looking for dwindling crowds.

I know not all locals do but I always find it a wee bit sad and hope that the good performers haven't been fleeced by landlords and venues to teh point where they don't come back again.

Here's to next years Fringe.
