A wasp deterrent...!

Whilst having coffee in a little cafe this morning we noticed that all the tables had a small saucer of sliced cucumber atop.....we thought it a little quirky and certainly a change from a vase of sweet peas!!
We were then informed that cucumber is a proven wasp deterrent..... Slice it and see!!
