Concentration

Today was a happy day, the first day of my holidays! Apart from a week in mid-September I'm now off until the second week of October. Sooooo good! It's a funny kind of holiday where I'll be editing all day tomorrow and most of the weekend, but today at least I had a full day off.

Colin and I marked the occasion by spending the day in our favourite pub, the Duke of York. In the afternoon we played bananagrams, a sort of quick and easy scrabble, and in the evening we played Othello (Reversi). I won't embarrass Colin by revealing how badly I kicked his ass at both ;)

Of course with a few drinks on the go there were lots of silly conversations, and a few deep and serious ones too. What else are pubs for?

The walls of the Duke of York are lined with all sorts of whiskey and beer-related memorabilia, including lots of mirrors with distillery branding printed on. I liked how the light was reflecting off the mirror behind us and casting shadows over Colin, with the ever-present x100 giving a little bit of an extra glow :)
