Another Languedoc year...

By SweetApricots

Pre-harvest

We spent a lovely morning working in the vineyard with our pals S&P. Yesterday AliB and I signed an agreement to sell the vineyard to the lovely owners of the adjacent domaine. So today I found myself saying goodbye to some of the vines as my work with them will soon be over. It was a poignant few hours.

The process of selling land can take an age as first the commune, and then the State, have first rights to buy it. However the purchasers paid 95 euros to have it fast-tracked so in theory it should take just six weeks rather than the four months it took when we bought it.

Meanwhile the Syrah, Cinsault and Grenache grapes are looking very good. They are not only organic but completely untreated this year and are still looking in great shape.

The basket contains pears from the potager. On our way out of the vineyard we stopped to pick a kilo of the fattest, juiciest figs you have ever seen. Utterly delicious.
