this evening was the grand opening of the city's new spanish cultural institution, the instituto cervantes. my friend tracy was the project manager for the interior build-out and i have to say, she really outdid herself. everything looks amazing -including this feature wall at the reception desk. the thing about ultra-minimalist modern design is that there's nowhere to hide the mistakes or the poor workmanship. everything has to be perfect and i think here, they managed to pull that off. also there's a exhibit of the paintings of the late catalonian artist, joan pijuan at the institute. extraordinary work.
