Inspired by Flashead I thought I would have another go at this harsh side lighting. This time I used a couple of home made (cardboard and rubber band) barn doors to control the lighting. Same as for photographing smoke.

I find it relatively easy to do a male portrait for some reason. The skin texture can be more interesting. I don't think a female would be flattered by this treatment!
