Meadowbank Stepping Stones

There are great slabs of concrete and some big rocks placed across the Taylor River at the Meadowbank Bridge. These provide stepping stones to enable walkers and mountain bikers to cross the river without getting their feet wet. Otherwise folk have to side-track a little and cross over the bridge itself in order to get across to the tracks on the other side.
The river is still running over some of the stepping stones at the moment thus making them impassable for now. The waters are dropping fairly rapidly. A week ago the river was very deep and a raging torrent under the bridge.
I sat on the shingle alongside the water this morning in order to capture an image from a low viewpoint. It was lovely and peaceful beside the river. Quite soothing in fact. With the wind rustling the trees, the noise of the water and birds chirping away, I was reluctant to get to my feet for the return journey with the dogs to the car. It is a very nice spot to visit for some peaceful contemplation.
