Malaga

We made it! Made an executive decision not to stop for a coffee en route, as Mum was afraid she would waver...

We caught the train at about 12pm. It made me feel very queasy and not quite right, but I didn't dare mention it to my mum in case she wanted to turn back! It turned out she felt the same!

When we arrived about half an hour later, we had a little meander and took some photos, but I was pleading to stop for a drink as I wasn't feeling great. We stopped at a little cafe down one of the side streets that I hadn't been to before, and ordered tea, orange juice and a cake from the bakery. The Spanish aren't really sure how to make tea, and we've got used to asking for cold milk instead of the whipped, frothy, warm milk that comes with it!

After coffee I felt much better, and we headed off to Zara Home. We bought a few bits each and then went off for another wander. There is so much to look at here. I love the tall buildings and they still have the canopies and decorations left up from the Feria a couple of weeks ago. We stopped at another bar for drinks and tapas, and we must have spent about 2 hours just sitting there, talking. It was so nice to spend time with my mum. We talked so much about family, especially our dear Gramps, and my mum shared more about her childhood than she ever has before. She's not much of a talker that way :-)

We strolled past the cathedral, and then found a little square that I didn't even know was there. Had a wander, and then another drink stop at a nice bar. Once we were done, we managed to find the dance shop we were looking for, which sold tango shoes.

It was getting on for 7pm, and I started to feel nervous about tomorrow, and the feeling you just want to be near your home. We walked back to the station in the lovely evening sun, and caught the next train home.

We decided to stay up town rather than walk down to the house, even though we were laden with bags. We were both too full of drink to eat anything, so we stopped at a place to have a drink. Picked the wrong place, as we ended up sitting opposite the resident mad-man. Sigh. Every town has one. And this one was drinking a beer, standing up and talking to a statue. He walked over to us, of course he was going to! But really slowly, and came behind my chair, which sent me jumping up squeaking! I don't do this often, but I don't like it when somebody like that comes near you and takes your space.

Feeling rattled, we golloped down the drinks and had our last wander. We were glad to get home, and then I had to pack my case. The holiday is well and truly over :-(

We had cereal on the sofa for dinner, plus a couple of episodes of Frasier on tv. Feeling sad tonight. I don't want it to end.
