Sturmfreie Bude
or in my case, "while the cat is away,....."
Angie set off this morning to the "Americana" show near here in Augsburg. Show runs for a week and is the biggest in Europe for Western Riding. Most think of this style of riding means dressing up as cowboys & indians and dashing about madly with guns blazing. Nothing could be further from the truth.
Western Riding is in many aspects the same as classical, what Germans call "English Riding". As the godfather of western riding in Europe, Jean-Claude Dysli in his Swiss accent would say, it's all about the riders "Balance, Feeling and Timing" not about the saddle the horse carries or the breed. While certain breeds such as our Quarter Horse (fastest horse over a quarter mile) Rosie have an advantage in their build over for instance our Arab (long distance types) Asyr, all horses have 4 legs, 1 head and a tail. Angie & Asyr have even taken part in a few JCD courses.
I hope Angie left her credit card at home but had a good time walking around the stands and an action packed evening show. She won't be home until the early hours.
Meanwhile the rest of us had a quiet, relaxed, stress and order free day, enjoying the sun that has returned for a couple of days. In the evening, we had a round of frisbee. For some reason, the chicken in the Blip looks out of place. I think it's the wrong colour.
