Clematis flowering early?

One of our native clematis plants (Clematis paniculata) is flowering now, and I remember that last year I posted a multiple of the flowers on this same plant. I still have 36 days to go to my anniversary, so that image must have been taken much later in the year than today's.

It's been a lovely day with a cool easterly breeze, but not unpleasant. I went down to the estuary to attempt some bird photos for a change, but didn't end up with anything I really liked. The light was better back home in the garden. No polariser with this shot, either.
