Wow What A Day!
I cannot believe what I've done and seen today.
First thing this morning we were up and out for a drive to Red Lodge. It was a lovely town. Very touristy but with lots of interesting shops. In the winter it is a ski resort. We had a nice breakfast when we got there and did a bit of shopping. We also visited an art museum which was in an old station.
We then headed up the mountain. The road was long and winding. We went up 9,200 ft. The views were incredible. I've never seen views quite like it. While we were there enjoying the scenery we saw chipmunks. At first I was a bit frightens of them as I thought they would bite me. I've never seen a chipmunk before. Someone had some nuts and they started feeding out of my hand.
I didn't go any further up the mountain because we had dinner commitments with some lovely people we have met so came back down the long and winding road.
There was this lovely creek called Rock Creek and I decided to pull over to take some photos. I pulled over next to another car. When I got out the man in the car said look up there you can see a bear. Well I couldn't believe what I was seeing. Across the road and just up the side of the mountain was this bear. We all stood and watched it for ages until it went on its way further up the mountain.
We then went over to the creek. It was beautiful. So peaceful. I could have stayed forever....but we had to get back.
We were picked up and taken to who I now consider a friends house. They had the most amazing spread of cheese, meats, biscuits, wine, fruit and chocolate. It was so nice. We met yet another nice couple. Then we were whisked off to someone else's house and met a whole new lot of people.
I can't believe it but we have been invited to someone else's house for dinner on Sunday.
I would never believe in a million years I could have had a day like today.
