Where Have all the Monarchs Gone?
The Monarch butterfly has become very rare in the upper Midwest. A few years ago we would see them everywhere. According to what I have read, there is a lack of milkweed between here and where they migrate to in the winter. That and a couple cold springs have caused the population to crash.
We were at the Arboretum today and I was so excited to actually see two monarchs fluttering around! In the past there would have been many.
Busy morning making 63 pints of salsa. My hands still smell of tomato! This evening we took engagement photos of a great young couple at the arboretum. The groom-to-be is the son of an old friend of Don's. After the photo shoot we all went to Floyds in Victoria for a fun dinner. RAIN! We got 1/4 inch tonight. Could use a lot more, but will take it.
