We had a quick stop on our eight-hour drive back to DC after our daughter's tournament. The best part was catching up with her :)

The place featured here is called South of the Border, and is located right at the border between North and South Carolina. It is the tackiest thing I've ever seen (and there are many tacky things on this side of the ocean...), so much so that it became entertaining.

It features giant plaster statues of various beasts, stores full of cheap trinkets and t-shirts, arcade games, a giant fireworks factory, tex-mex fast food, rundown motels, mini-golf, the "world's biggest reptiles exhibit," even its own gas station. It lay mostly deserted (all that was missing was a few big dust bunnies rolling down the faux cobblestone streets...
