The ZOMBIES!

I had the exciting opportunity tonight to hear The Zombies perform, live, at the Silver Reef Casino, in Ferndale!

As many of you probably know, The Zombies are a British rock band, formed in 1961, and led by Rod Argent on keyboard and Colin Blunstone on lead vocals. In case you need more of a memory jog, listen to this. If that doesn't do it, try this.

In addition to introducing songs from their newly released CD, and performing several lesser known Zombie creations that have been covered by other artists, the band also delivered what their audience came primarily to hear -- their big hits. In between songs, these charming fellows shared stories and provided background on their music and the band. One interesting thing I learned tonight was that Colin Blunstone was the soloist on one of my favorite Alan Parson's Project songs, Old and Wise. I never knew that, all these years!

We capped off the evening with a few cocktails at Skylarks, where a sultry bossa nova beat was warming up the room.
