The Big Beach Busk!
We had a delicious breakfast at one of my favourite cafés in town, followed by some errands, an afternoon on the Prom for the Big Beach Busk, bimbled across fellow blippers bignonioides and Shandonner and their lovely dog (who almost became today's blip), then went to see the Alan Partridge movie at the Filmhouse, which wasn't nearly as bad as I expected (good policy of low expectations pays off again).
The Big Beach Busk is the idea of a local Porty resident who is unlikely to thank me for naming him and, instead, prefers to think of himself as the disorganiser of it all. He invites anybody and everybody to come down to the Prom and busk - it's as simple as that. Big bands with amps, little kids on bagpipes, megaphone choirs, dancers and drummers - you name it, you're likely to find it. We even heard a pretty good klezmer band. These two young women were giving it laldy on a song about how they took the cocaine out of coca-cola. Every time someone threw a coin into their hat they stopped playing and cheered with great big whoops.
We were all blessed with good weather this year and so many local businesses joining in with food and drink, including the Big Busk (wh)Ale, which was very refreshing. One thing that was more evident this year was how many people were busking for charities or good causes - at least three buskers aiming to help Syrian refugees. All in all, a tip top day.
I am grateful to see so many friends out and enjoying themselves.
I'm grateful to live in such a wonderful area, surrounded by creative people who want to spread love and happiness.
I'm grateful for so much more.
