Frances Ha

Tuesday night and The Minx and I decided that we'd go to the cinema. Favouring independent cinema over the fun-sucking corporates, choice is a tad more limited but we thought we might fancy 'Frances Ha' at The Dukes.

This isn't intended as a film review but it was rather good. With a contemporary setting but filmed in black and white, it gained a slightly timeless quality. The acting was fine - i.e. it didn't occur to you that anyone was acting - and the story, although not particularly substantial, rattled along at an enjoyable clip enough clip. If you were to say to me that you were thinking of going, I would say "Do!".

On the way between the car park and the cinema, I was looking for something to photograph and I saw this fine old building, which looks as though it might be derelict. I've never heard of the "Primitive Methodist Church" but The Minx had her 'phone to hand and assured me that it is, indeed, A Thing.
