Heron on Airthrey Loch

After a visit to ensure that MaggieD's Mum was fine and to help her with a bit of shopping, we took the dogs up to Stirling University for a stroll round the loch. Well, Autumn has certainly arrived in Central Scotland! There was a cool, fresh breeze blowing across the water and leaves were starting to part company with their trees. The cygnets are all pretty well full grown but have yet to acquire their full adult plumage. I could see them away at the far end of the loch but was not close enough for a photo. Instead you are getting this heron who posed quite nicely at the edge of a little island. Home now and some DIY to attack so I had better get a shift on.
