The lunch
Today we met friends for lunch at a lovely little pub just south of Godalming. It was ostensibly to celebrate my birthday earlier this week but also just to catch up with our friends who we have not seen over the summer. Their eldest daughter has just finished school and had travelled in Europe over the summer with friends, so it was fun to hear all about her trip. We always enjoy catching up with them as we have been friends for many years, Ian and I first met at university in 1980!!
Luke returned home this morning as after the rugby festival they had a rugby dinner (take away curry) at the rugby captain's house and all slept over, so it was the first time he was home all week for us to be able to go out and celebrate. Adam is rubbing his eyes as he is still tired from a party he went to on Friday night, and yet he has just caught the train to another friend's house who is having a party tonight. We have told him that that is now it...end of summer and end of party season as term starts next week and he has a big year ahead of him. He is taking five A level subjects and he has his music performance diploma this term, which is the culmination of nearly 18 months work preparing the performance repertoire for the exam. He seems motivated and is ready to get back to hard work (we hope!)
Thomas has 5 friends coming over tomorrow for a sleepover as his birthday in is January and he never had a get together this year, so we said he could have some friends over in the summer - so this is it.
I am now off to bake a cake for tomorrow.
