Swallow

Today was an awful day to be blipping in the counryside - grey skies and wild, wild wind. Hardly a thing bar the thickest walls were standing still. So it was with some trepidation that I ventured out with the dogs this afternoon in search of a blip. Fortunately as I walked down the lane I saw the swallows wheeling round and I made a mental note that after I had taken the dogs their walk I would return with my new 200mm f2.8 lens to see if I could capture better pictures than I had previously.

With a prime zoom lens it was certainly not easy capturing such fast flying birds but I persevered and got a few sharp images.

To be exact I got about 60 out of 380 shots, then most of those images had to be trashed because the birds were in too heavy shadow. I also found that with low light, even shooting at 400 ISO I needed to use noise reduction software to clean up my skies. However, I am quite pleased with my final image and it is certainly an improvement on my previous images. If you wish to compare it with my previous images you will find them HERE and HERE
