This morning I woke up to the sound of Helene coming over to our bungalow to wake us up to inform us that there was a double full rainbow over the ocean. It was absolutely gorgeous and unlike any rainbow I've ever seen - it started and ended in the sea and there were two of them! Really beautiful.

We then headed over to Sainte-Marie where we went on our whale watching tour. It has to have been one of the most awesome sights I've ever witnessed. There are apparently over 300 whales in the bay at this time of year. They escape the cold Antarctic winters to the warmer sea around the east coast of Madagascar to nurse their young and take part in really amazing mating rituals! We were lucky enough to see them so up close.....at one point a bit too close which freaked all of us out a bit!! One of the most amazing things was witnessing the whales jump out of the water - although it was near impossible to get a decent shot of this. Still, the image will stay in my mind for years to come I'm sure.
