Cairn at Loughcrew
Rosie and I drove to County Meath this morning, she and her boyfriend are heading off for a well deserved little break in Amsterdam. This afternoon and tomorrow though we are having an exploration of some archeological sites in the area. Today we went to the neolithic passage tomb at Loughcrew. It was an amazing spot with views over many counties of Ireland. The main passage tomb was surrounded by a number of other smaller cairns all the cairns had markings on them.
We are staying in Drewstown, with it's amazing old manor house, with a large walled garden, now a football pitch! An orchard of mature fruit trees, a lake and a woodland of mature beech trees, the latter is home to a high ropes course as the place is now used for outdoor adventure courses. Rosie's boyfriends Dad is the caretaker.
