Nicaragua Selection

With a GDP/Capita (PPP) slightly higher than in Vietnam the average Nica holds a stronger in theory purchasing power.

However, Vietnam has had the 2nd fastest growing economy after China, for the last couple of years, and there is omnipresent effervescence in Vietnam, which I have not witnessed in Nicaragua.

Nicaragua has been a very hurt country, and that’s the feeling that I perceive from it, a country still recovering from its political scars, the devastation of corruption and omnipresent ruins of natural disaster destructions

One of the glimpses of hope and good life, are these women working on specially selected maracaturra coffee, a coffee which fetches a massive premium in the developed world. It is a blend between the maragogype and the caturra beans- the taste can be used as the base of a blend rather than a stand out fragrance. Hand selection is now a receding practise in the coffee world, being replaced by mechanised colour selection machines, and it should thus be rewarded .
