Remembering the Past

We bought this 10 acres in 1981. My parents drove in their camper van to Alaska from Florida a couple of times, and in about 1985 we made a gravel pad here so they could have a comfy place to spend the summer. We lived about 3 miles away. We put in an extension phone line so we could call (way before cell phones!) and the phone was in this wooden box on a post in the woods.
Finally this summer the post rotted away and fell over, so we built a campfire and warmed ourselves by burning the old wood and talking about those times.
Mom and Dad were about the age we are now. It all passes so fast, doesn't it?
