All summer a couple of doves have cavorted in our driveway, narrowly avoiding death by squishing on a couple of occasions. This is the result . . . Baby Dove was on the roof of the Rustbucket with its mother when we left the house this morning. Mom waited until we got close, then flew away, leaving the little one wondering what to do next . . .

It stared around, allowed me to take a couple of shots, then opened its wings, revved up and flew erratically across the road. Mom and Dad watched the kid's progress approvingly from a nearby telephone wire . . .
