white-lined sphinx moth...

...a relative of the hummingbird moth.
Today on my quick morning walk I didn't see anything blipworthy . But I did notice that my pot of sun-resistant impatiens out front had been neatly trimmed down to the base by a roaming deer. Grrr...
So this afternoon I went for another walk, hoping to see something pop out at me. Well, darn if I didn't see a rather round bellied contented buck lounging in a neighbor's yard. So I did take a few shots at of him.
But as I continued down into my favorite wooded place to walk, there I saw it...this marvelous, whimsical act of creation!
As big as a little bird, as fuzzy as a huge moth, with a very long tongue that has gone fishing for nectar, it is just right for the mood I'm in today!
