Diary of an Edinburgher

The bus came on time... drat!

A wee trip to the nearby charity shop this morning with a big bag of clothes that I will never wear again, and quite possibly never wore anyway. This charity is going to well out of us!

Then I took Uncle A shopping. Today we went on a jaunt to M&S Food Store to get some ready meals and assorted treats. Of course, we then had to go to nearby supermarket to get ordinary stuff like Baked Beans etc.

I popped into town and had a wee wander. A warm day - my woolly hat panic at the weekend was a bit premature. It was positively barmy balmy. The usual sights, most of which I will spare you - eg the Metal Lady arguing with someone who had set up a stall, possibly in her spot. Caused quite a scene, with tourists (and me) taking photos. She’s normally very quick to spot cameras and hides behind her umbrella when people try to sneak a shot without paying her.

A few artists, harpists, statues and trinket sellers still around. Crowds of tourists - those city guide folk must be doing a roaring trade. I chose the Chaplin shot. I think the chap behind him was practising at being a statue of a person waiting outside the court, having a fag. Or perhaps he just was one. Neither of them seemed to be doing very well.

As I waited at the bus stop, the most colourful hippy type man joined me. He had the most spectacular pink long straggly hair, a green bandana, colourful jacket and patchwork pantaloons. Not to mention different coloured finger nails.

My *Blip Bell* was ringing…

Oooh, I like your colours!’ I was staight in to establish how friendly he was on the 'possible blipometer’ rating. He was friendly and chatty and as I was about to ask if I could take his photo, I saw my bus coming along. But no - he was worth missing this one and waiting for the next bus…

But… he made to get on the bus too, so he’s just a memory for me. I’ll be on the lookout for him again!
