Sunny Side of the Street?

This bit of street should actually be in the shade, but the sun is bouncing of a newly built building across the street and causing a hot spot that moves up the street on sunny afternoons.

The Walkie Talkie building has a concave south facing side that concentrates the sun's light and heat down onto Eastcheap. Buildings have been damaged, door mats smouldered and a Jaguar car was slightly melted!

When I went there, the pavement was heaving with people. Film crews and photographers were everywhere.  Someone had parked a black car in a suspended parking bay, hoping it would melt? There was an egg frying on its boot. There were frying pans of eggs sitting on the ground as well.

The heat in the light spot was much higher than the rest of the street, I saw one digital thermometer reading 40 degrees!
