Tragedy

A familiar scene I should think to any of you who know Edinburgh, looking towards the old town over Waverley station, but a view which now has a sad story attached.

I took two Lego figures to see the sights of the capital, the pot holer (just because) and the wee madchen, thinking that being Austrian, she really needed to see the touristy sights more than anyone. So she and her friend were enjoying the view and I was setting up a shot when a sudden gust of wind took them off the fence, and while the potholer landed well, she fell the other way, ending up far beyond reach. She didn't move afterwards, so I hope that death was instantaneous. Her friend of course was desperate to help, but I hadn't brought his rope (out of concern he, being an outdoorsy type, might nip off and try and climb up to the castle, you understand), so he couldn't even abseil down and get her. To be fair his rope is probably far too short, but he'd really like to have at least tried. So you won't be following her adventures any more, unless I get another one (you don't know which one you're buying, so it is certainly possible if the collection expands at some point). But that still wouldn't be her, but perhaps a sister. Rest in peace, poor wee madchen.

I was in Edinburgh for an info/networking event organised by the Scottish Government's International Development Team, which was very useful. Funnily enough, being a professional and all that, I didn't tell anyone I was carrying Lego figures in my bag to take photos of them by Edinburgh landmarks afterwards... But you guys know the truth now, though my oddness is not much of a surprise to you!
