fossil island

Another dreich day so resorted to blipping a fossil my daughter found a few years ago on one of the beaches in north Skye.

Fossil hunting is a great past time, there are so many to see on the beaches if you look carefully. My daughter could not believe her eyes when she saw this one!

There are signs at the top of the path leading down to the beach telling people they can take fossils as long as they don't break open the rocks in an effort to find them. Luckily for my daughter this one was just there on the beach waiting for her to pick it up, this has to be the find of a life time! It is difficult to tell from this picture how big the fossil is but it measures about 7 1/2 inches across and 6 1/2 inches tall.

Hopefully the rain will stop tomorrow and I will get a nice sunny blip (fingers crossed!!)
