An Oasis of Calm!

A trip to Kew Gardens in South West London today, fantastic, peace and quiet , if you discount the noise of 747 after 747 on their final approach into Heathrow, just a short distance from a sprawling non-stop metropolis.

Well I was sitting on the grass enjoying my picnic lunch, when this magnificent specimen decided to join me, unfortunately, despite trawling through books on the subject, I have been unable to identify which species og Dragonfly this is. If anyone could enlighten me, I would be grateful
