Chalkfest 2009

It's Summerfest in Eau Claire this weekend and with it comes Chalkfest. Chalkfest is sidewalk art at its best. Local artist claim their sidewalk segment and begin their work. Some use the chalk straight on the cement, other interpret water to make the chalk into a paint-like consistencing and apply with a brush, others yet combine both techniques. On-lookers vote for their favorite piece and winners are announced at the end of the fest at 11pm. Other activities including chalk pictionary, speed chalk-offs, children's expo, etc. Quite amazing.
