Wanderin' Star...
Grade II listed pub the Star and Garter on Fairfield Street in Manchester has a question mark looming over it's future. The pub stands in the shadow of Piccadilly Rail Station and a proposed expansion including a new rail viaduct and road will threaten demolition. Built in 1803, originally as a hotel, the building stood approximately 100 yards from its current position. It was moved, brick by brick, onto its current site and reopened in 1877. The current pub Landlord has suggested that history should repeat itself and that the developers should once again relocate the pub to a new site.
