The season of mists and mellow fruitfulness.....

Today got off to a really misty start. It's the first day there has been a hint of autumn but the sun, which was just on it's way up at this point, burned the mist away and temperatures got up to high 20's!

The group of lime trees to the right, are our Baa Lamb trees so named I was told when I first came to Harpenden, because in days gone by people grazed sheep on this common land. However, I have since found out that the name probably came from a 17th century house called 'Balaams' which was once owned by one Richard Sheppard! Sadly we lost 5 of them in that 'non hurricane' of 1987!
