7 inches is good !!
Morning all,
The four building blocks of the universe are fire, water, gravel and vinyl - Dave Barry
There was a time when 45 was a good speed, even 33, I once could even manage 78...........nowadays there's only one speed. remember when you forgot to change the speed and the chipmunks sang to you !!!! ;0)
Kids ......we're talkin' vinyl, 7 inch singles.....12 inch albums...45, 33 and 78 rpm...coloured vinyls were treasured, picture discs sought after... picture sleeves, gatefolds!! Ask about the 7 inch floppies free from magazines !! ;0)
Those were the days........better sounding music even with the scratches!!
But vinyl hasn't gone....its growing again! In 2010, more record players were sold than CD players.......I remember mine, I could stack them, put the arm across and one by one the records would fall, the arm move across, the needle touchdown !!! I pushed mine to the limit sometimes by stacking mixed albums way past where the spindle in the centre finished, as much as I could squeeze under the arm, just lined up the centre holes !!
Now that's a multiplay cd player........cd's don't have the same quality....nobody admires the artwork on a cd compared to an album cover, hardly anybody reads what's on a cd cover but everyone read the single/album cover when they bought it!! And I felt cheated when I bought the 12 inch single to discover that it was the same as the 7 inch !!!! ;0)
Memories.....;0)
Have a great day ;0)
