Downsizing fun...
I’m really getting in to the swing of this ‘getting rid of stuff’ and was packing in my dreams all night. At first I was very reluctant to chuck out things -
* A big poster of a Chagall exhibition we saw in 2006 in Denmark?
* A William MacTaggart exhibition poster from 1998?
* A Jane Evans poster from 1985 in NZ?
* A very faded photo of the machair looking across to Scarp in Harris - land of my forebears?
No, they all have to go.
There’s a man coming to view the table, chairs and dresser. But that was supposed to be at 9.30am and he hasn’t shown up yet (3pm), so I don’t think he’s too keen.
I advertised the cross trainer and a man came and bought it yesterday. This inspired me to put more on Gumtree. And guess what I found when sorting through a big lot of old DVDs? ‘The Quiet Man’!! Uncle A passes on some of his used DVDs from time to time, and this must have been in a batch some time ago. We had visited Cong in Galway and it is famous for being the location for The Quiet Man. We’ll need to sit and watch it one of these days.
Also got some good news from the camera folk re my Canon kit - they’re giving me quite a good price for the job lot. Well, £100 more than the first lot I asked. And I got £35 for the cross trainer. I’d’ve paid him £20 to take it away!
I anticipate not being able to move later, as we’re taking six boxes of books to the charity shop this afternoon - the old back may not like it.
On second thoughts… can I really live without the MacTaggart poster...
