Beachy Head

I took the day off work today with the aim of walking the 20 miles or so over Beachy Head and the Seven Sisters from Eastbourne to Cuckmere Haven and back. The tide was just starting to turn so, on the outward leg, I added a couple of extra miles by going down to the Falling Sands (a macabre but accurate name for the notorious suicide spot - about 20 people jump off these cliffs each year) beneath Beachy Head which is only accessible at low tide. The sands were already covered by the incoming tide by the time I got there but the rocky ledge that runs out to sea was still exposed - I managed to get about 60 metres offshore, fire off a couple of shots and hurtle back before the ledge was underwater. The rest of the walk was without incident although it rained almost all morning.
