Guardian Angel
I had a strange sort of day…. I made a pair of silver cufflinks set with white seaglass and a silver pendant set with yellow seaglass ….. I took some photos as I thought it would be something nice to blip…….more pleasant than yesterday’s….
Sometimes it’s tougher when people are kind to you…It weakens the armour we build to protect us against the hard falls we take in life. I got so many kind messages from friends and family on my late wife’s anniversary……It got to me but I was feeling ok tonight……then I read a text message at 20:20 sent by my friend Sharon at 19:35 that changed my day….. “Hi, Ann passed away a little while ago”….. Ann was married on 27th July 2013, the day after my Siobhán’s birthday. Ann was dying and staying in a hospice on her wedding day and I was asked to do the wedding photos because she was comfortable with me. She felt guilty that I was not just there as a guest and had to spend the day and night taking photos when she had the strength….. I was glad to do it… It gave me the opportunity to ensure there were photos taken that would be treasured by her eight living sisters and her children and her husband… Her grown sons did realise the photos I took of them kissing and holding their mother would be very important in the years to come…. It was a strange happy/sad day but it was uplifting.
It hit me though tonight as my late wife Siobhán and Ann now share a date…. So I wanted a more suitable photo to blip…..so I took this one in the dark………….. It is quite grainy because of the very high iso but it shows the sun going down on the day Ann died…. It shows the ocean of tears that will be shed by her loving family….This is today…..
Tomorrow is a brand new day……..and I’ll be on the racetrack taking photos as the motorcycle riders race between the wet hedges of Killalane at breakneck speeds and I hope to God none of them join Siobhán and Ann…..and I am reminded of a biker badge that states “Never Ride Faster Than Your Guardian Angel Can Fly”….and hopefully they will not.
