Milkcap

If you look carefully you can see where this type of mushroom gets it name. It is known as Lactarius - Milkcap, I am not going to guess at which one because there are a lot of them. Where the gills or flesh is damaged it exudes or lactates droplets of milk.

The book tells me that identification of exactly which milkcap it is can be narrowed down by putting a drop of the 'milk' on your tongue for about half a minute before spitting it out, the taste hot, bitter, mild gives an indication of the type. I didn't bother!
