my dragonfly waited...
...for me today
finally!
finally - after almost the entire summer has passed - i've managed to capture a dragon - they have been so scarce - perhaps elusive - here this summer... why? i've no idea - i thought it was me - but i ran into a photographer friend of mine at my little lake this afternoon - we got to talking about the dragons and he noticed it to - but neither of us has a clue as to the why of it - just after we parted ways...
look what chanced to flitter into my path... do you think she was simply hanging out in the wings - waiting? had overheard us chatting it up about the dragons - figured she'd give me a break - the pitiful soul with the black box? boo!
whatever the case may be - i'm grateful - she hung for several moments on this blade of weed - just out of reach - i had to do a delicate dance not to fall into the water - not to startle her into flying away either - you can tell she's looking at me - daring me, taunting me - to snap away - give it my best shot - not the most ideal of situations - but i was up to the challenge - even though i know she's not totally in focus - it would've been better if she'd come a bit closer - so i could've steadied my hand... however - we all know how it goes - take what you're granted - i will not complain - i got my dragon this year - i'm a happy camper - doing the happy skippy dance, too - 'cuz i recognize the infrequency of some opportunities - when we wish and wish and wish - and they never happen - so don't be critical of this shot just because it's a bit out of focus - or go ahead and mumble if you feel like it - i don't really care - i know what i was dealing with - balanced on 1 foot in those weeds - it's my memory and it's made for...
a
happy day.....
