Lucy Goes on a Trip
I Love the Charles Schultz Sonoma County Airport. They have statures of our whole gang and an Airport Help 5¢ booth with my picture on it (and a sign saying "The Airport Helper is out" because I'm off on a trip myself.) It's clean and new and small ,and I can't wait to fly to San Diego one of the four flights a day to San Diego, Los Angeles, Portland or Seattle.
We were sad to say good bye to my brother and his wife today after a nice lunch at Willi's Wine Bar, our continuing favorite Santa Rosa restaurant. We chatted with our waiter who used to work at a Gordon Ramsay restaurant in New York. Coincidentally, we had just been discussing a Gordon Ramsay restaurant in London. He said Californians are more laid back and complain less!
It was a ten minute drive to the spiffy little airport. The first two hours' parking in the lot just steps from the terminal, are free. The TSA agent was outside, next to the bronze statues of Charlie Brown and Linus, gossiping on her mobil phone. There was an a la carte, well...cart, upon which to place carry on bags which are stowed in the small plane and placed on another cart next to the plane on arrival in San Diego. No holding up other passengers while trying to shove heavy bags in to an overhead compartment. All the advantages of carry on with none of the disadvantages. There is a pleasant looking restaurant with tables outside overlooking the runway. Very civilized, at least until they complete the planned expansion of the runway....
It seemed a much longer drive back home without our constant companions of the last five days. By the time I finish writing this, they will be landing in San Diego and we will all be looking forward to our next get together, perhaps in the "Southern California Resort".
