*THE HEAD AND THE HEART*
"Tell me somethin', give me hope for the night
We don't know how we feel
We're just prayin' that we're doin' this right
Though that's not the way it seems..." --The Head and the Heart
The Head and the Heart is an indie folk-pop band from Seattle, Washington. The band met and formed through a series of open mic nights at Seattle's Conor Byrne pub. Self-burned copies of The Head and the Heart in handmade denim sleeves were being sold at shows and soon local record stores couldn't keep them in stock. The band signed with Sub Pop in 2010 and remastered their album - sending them well on their way to fame.
Someone very dear to my heart introduced me to the band this past year and I was instantly drawn in... Their lyrics are interesting - strange some might say. But once you really reach in and read into them, you can feel the emotion to your very core.
My favorite description of the band was this: The Head and the Heart write and play songs that speak to the newness of a fresh start, of the ghosts left behind, of moving forward, all brimming with a soulfulness and hope for a better life than the one we’ve all been sold...
Just thought I'd share some of my thoughts and feelings on such a unique band. Music that has opened my eyes - touched my soul.
The Head and the Heart. The band name fits perfectly.
Following your heart - something that I've learned more than anything this year. AND I know I'll continue to follow my heart for the rest of my days...
