Saturday market

The day spent exploring all around Portland. The Saturday market, chalked full of food, art, kitsch of all shapes, sights, and sounds. Throngs of people bustling through the narrow market stands and smells from all over the world. I was even tempted into buying a few small pieces of art and talking with many of the artisans. A beautiful woodcut came home and a postcard piece of batik from a kindly Japanese artist I talked long with.

Wandering along the boardwalk of the Willamette and finding myself in a food festival, the Oregon Bite. Sampling chef fare, food, wine, beer from around the state. Greek tabouli and kobe beef sliders, marion berry cobbler and rasberry wheat beer...

Later, catching a bus to Southeast Portland to meet with an old friend. Lauren, I met studying in Peru last summer. Chowing down on the likes of gravy, cheese curd french fries and deep fried peanut butter chocolate pie...yup, outdoors on a picnic table beside corner street stands amidst the most bizarre scene. A hipster moped rally of sorts. Funny people here in Portland, funny people.

And then! Getting dropped off to meet Wes at a wood working 'party' at a friends studio nearby. Sipping keg beer with random folk in a downtown carpentry garage. Finishing the night with Wes and Samara downtown sipping on a pint and eating local oysters on the half shell.

Indulging. Enjoying good food all day....getting spoiled here.
