My Favorite Selfie
My husband and our youngest son escorted me to a car show in the city today. They wandered around while I was busily shooting four rolls of film, and finishing shooting the last of a roll from a couple of weeks ago. Once the 35mm film was gone, I brought out the Fuji Instax.
I took a photo of an older gentleman, who was showing his twin brother's vintage car. I gave him the instant photo, which he thought was neat. I said he could keep it. We discussed cars...and my lack of keeping a vintage car running. By the time I get them, they are driven every day, for every trip. I tend to run cars into the ground, even with an excellent mechanic.
I found out that this nice, older gentleman is from the next large city close to Springfield. He told me where his brother is buried. I thought that visiting the cemetery and photographing the mausoleum would make a nice road trip, since it isn't too far away. He thought I was a bit silly for photographing cemeteries, but he understood I like the statues and old tombstones.
He will be at the next car show downtown. I hope I get to see him there. It's pretty rare when I find someone willing to talk...and that I want to talk with. I think it was the instant photo's magic. :)
